“This is a new day and God is doing
a new thing! We will ride with Him and pursue His plan.” This
is the conviction and determination of Annie McRae, who, along
with her three sisters, Leslie 17, and twins, Whitney and Britney
ages 13, carry on the ministry of the McRae family.
It
all began in 1999 when sisters Annie and Kelly recorded their
self titled album
produced by Woody Wright. Since then, the McRaes
have experienced many career highlights. In 2004 the group claimed
their first #1 song on the national radio charts, “ If
It Had Not Been The Lord” and in 2005 they celebrated Song
of the Year with “ There Is A Remedy “. In 2006 they
were awarded another #1 “ He Knows My Name” with “ When
He Said Live “ holding a top 5 position for 2007. All songs
were written by Annie McRae. The McRaes have been nominated for
two Dove Awards and were blessed to be a part of Mark Lowry’s
Senior Trip, the Crabb Jam Tour, featured during Gospel Music
Week, on Gospel Music Television, at the Gospel Music Association’s
Estes Park, presenting during the 2006 Dove awards, performing
on TBN’S Praise The Lord’s program and on the Gaither
Homecoming Video Series. The McRaes opened for Mark Lowry’s
2000 tour and were featured on his Broadway video project alongside
the
Gaither Vocal Band and Sandi Patti.
In 2006 Kelly married
drummer, Ricky Free, and came off of the road to spend more
time at home. Now the younger sisters are
joining Annie on stage every night, and are bringing a new and
exciting vibe to the ministry. Annie, Leslie, and Whitney perform
the vocals and Britney plays the Bass guitar along with an awesome
live band. It is obvious by their dedication that they are striving
to make a difference in lives. All four sisters feel a calling
to spread the Gospel with song and have a burden for young people
of their own age. Right now the girls are working on material
for a new album that will definitely cross generation barriers
and reach an entire new audience through it’s fresh sound
and powerful lyrics. Annie continues to write songs that speak
directly to the heart and soul and minister to people right where
they are. “The songs come from the Word, through my own
trials, struggles, and lessons of life. Many of them are inspired
by testimonies from precious people I meet on the road every
weekend. Writing is a huge part of my call to minister to the
hurting!”
The focus of this
family is to bring hope and healing to the world through the
message of Jesus Christ and God’s great
love. When asked what people can expect when attending a McRae’s
concert, Annie answers: “We always anticipate a moving
of God’s power. You can definitely expect a worship service!
If you come depressed or lost, our prayer is that you will leave
with an unspeakable joy and with Jesus in your heart.”
The purpose and passion
is clear. The way is straight. The McRae’s
mission is to bring men, women, boys, and girls, to the saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ and that He alone be glorified through
their lives.
