Tim McKeithen:

The remarkable musical legacy of Tim McKeithen began with his father, Rev E.B. McKeithen, a member of The McKeithen Brothers Quartet. They traveled in the 1930-1940’s and “stumped” during the political rallies for John McKeithen’s campaign, who became Louisiana’s Governor for two terms. Tim also attended his father’s singing schools where the audiences were taught music by shaped notes.

Growing up in a minister’s home, his mother, Ruth Hemphill McKeithen, was an older sister to Joel Hemphill. After her passing at age 39, this greatly affected Tim at the young age of 18. He lived with his grandfather, Rev W. T. Hemphill, where he and Joel became as close as brothers. Little did he realize when he would perform with Joel and LaBreeska at camp-meetings, there would be a new journey for him just around the corner.

In 1966 Tim married the love of his life, Dixie Jane White, a native Texan he met in BibleCollege in Tupelo, MS. In 1968, after two years full time traveling with the “Gospel Keys” of Evansville, IN they received a call from Joel Hemphill. He invited them to join a group he was forming “The Singing Hemphill’s”. They gladly accepted, moving back to Tim’s home state of Louisiana. Tim played the guitar and sang while Dixie played the piano. Their daughter, Angelina, was born three months after the entire group moved to Nashville, TN in 1972. Tim spent time praying about the next phase of his life for the easiest thing would have been to stay with his family, the Hemphills! But the call of his heart could not be ignored!

“ The McKeithens” was formed in 1976 with wife, Dixie, and cousin Robert McKeithen. Angelina was three years old when she debuted her first song at their first concert! As the years passed, Angelina became a vital part of the family group. The McKeithens traveled all over America and Canada until December 2000. At doctor’s orders, Tim had to let his voice rest after 35 years of full-time ministry!

Tim has now received a clean bill of health from his doctors. His dream came true when he visited Israel performing seven concerts with The Hemphills for the Department of Israel Tourism and in churches. His family, even today, is still involved in Gospel Music. Tim and Dixie, his wife of 42 years, reside in Nashville, TN. Dixie works for the Beckie Simmons Agency. Angelina performs with her group, Angelina & Route 77.

Drawing from this vast musical experience and background, Tim is now starting a new phase by working selected dates. He is nationally known for his anointed musical delivery and communication with the audience. Tim McKeithen is an additional blessing to any event!
